HISTORY

Edberg was named after J.A. Edstrom, postmaster and owner of the first general store. ED was derived from his family name, BERG means 'hill' in swedish, and since Edberg sits on a hill, the name stuck.

Like most villages in Canada, Edberg experienced a great exodus after the second world war. The population finally leveled off and because of the many advantages in the area, Edberg is gradually regaining its number of inhabitants. Originally settled by people of Scandinavian descent, it is now a cosmopolitan village.

It is believed that Edberg was one of the first communities west of Ontario to have its own water and sewer system.
